Invalid transaction records via permissive timestamp parsing
Published Dec 26, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper timestamp validation in SteVe Community ocpp-jaxb before 0.0.8 allows remote attackers to create invalid transaction records. JodaDateTimeConverter passes untrusted OCPP timestamps to Joda-Time's permissive DateTime constructor, which accepts numeric strings instead of enforcing XSD dateTime syntax. A crafted StartTransaction message can persist a month-00 timestamp, and reading the affected record triggers an SQL exception that interrupts transaction viewing.
