Password truncation in D-Link COVR mesh routers allows physically proximate attackers to gain unauthorized Wi-Fi network access. During synchronization, firmware truncates a WPA-PSK after its first whitespace character before sending it from the primary node to secondary nodes. Exploitation requires a multi-node mesh configured with whitespace in its WPA-PSK; the shortened key authenticates to secondary access points and reduces the brute-force search space.
