CVE-2023-5189Network attack vector

File overwrite via symlinked tar extraction

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Path traversal in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.4 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite files via a crafted tarball. Galaxy Importer extracts the collection without blocking symlink entries that redirect later writes outside the extraction directory. The same component ships with Satellite 6.14; importing a malicious collection requires low-privileged access and user interaction, and overwritten files expose data or alter executed code.
