CVE-2023-5179

Application crash via corrupted MiniFat starting-sector value

Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Open Design Alliance ODA Drawings SDK before 2024.10 allows attackers to crash applications via a crafted DGN file. The DGN parser accepts a corrupted MiniFat starting-sector value and reads beyond the allocated buffer when the file is processed. An application embedding the SDK must read the malicious file; the documented consequence is a crash, and the vendor also lists code execution without explaining the path.
