Local system crash via unlocked receive queue
Published Dec 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel before 6.6.8 allows local users to crash the system through an ATM socket ioctl race. do_vcc_ioctl reads an skb from sk_receive_queue without holding the queue lock, while concurrent vcc_recvmsg processing can free that skb. The path requires local low-privileged access to a connected ATM socket and winning the race; successful triggering can crash the kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
