Chained root code execution via unvalidated certificates

Improper certificate validation in NETGEAR RAX30 1.0.7.78 allows attackers to tamper with HTTPS downloads from an adjacent network. The firmware downloader accepts the HTTPS server certificate without proper validation, allowing a man-in-the-middle server to alter retrieved files. No authentication is required, but root code execution depends on chaining the tampered download with other vulnerabilities.
