CVE-2023-51620

Authenticated root code execution via SetIPv6PppoeSettings overflow

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-X3260 1.02b02 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root over the LAN. The prog.cgi HNAP handler copies an unvalidated SetIPv6PppoeSettings string into a fixed-size stack buffer when processing HTTP or HTTPS requests. Access to the router's authenticated LAN-side management interface is required, and successful exploitation gives full root-level control of the device.
