CVE-2023-51619

Authenticated root code execution via stack overflow

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-X3260 1.02b02 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root over a local network. The SetMyDLinkRegistration HNAP handler in prog.cgi copies a user-supplied string into a fixed-size stack buffer without adequate validation. Access requires authentication and network adjacency; successful exploitation executes arbitrary code with root privileges on the router.
