CVE-2023-51594

Information disclosure via unchecked OBEX parameter lengths

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in the OBEX library in BlueZ 5.66 allows physically proximate attackers to disclose data via a malicious Bluetooth device. The OBEX protocol parameter handler fails to validate user-supplied lengths before reading, permitting a read beyond an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires the target to connect to the attacker's Bluetooth device; the direct impact is information disclosure, while root code execution requires chaining with other flaws.
