Information disclosure via unchecked AVRCP folder length
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in BlueZ 5.66 allows network-adjacent attackers to disclose memory through a crafted Bluetooth AVRCP response. In parse_media_folder, a 12-byte minimum check is followed by reads at offsets 12 and 14, and the copied name length is not bounded by the remaining operand buffer. Exploitation requires the target to connect to a malicious Bluetooth device; the direct effect is process-memory disclosure, while root code execution requires another flaw.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
