Code execution via unchecked annotation pointer cast
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Type confusion in Annotation handling in Foxit PDF Reader 2023.2.0.21408 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted PDF. The Annotation handler casts pointers between unrelated types and dereferences them without validating the user-supplied object's actual type. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and code runs in the current process.
