Account impersonation via hardcoded JWT fallback
Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Authentication bypass in Navidrome 0.50.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to assume a known user's access through the Subsonic API. At first startup, the authentication module initializes before the database-backed JWT secret exists and silently retains the hardcoded fallback key "not so secret". A reachable /rest/ endpoint, an existing username, and no intervening restart are required; forged tokens permit data access and modification as that user.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
