Authenticated stored XSS via shortcode attribute
Published Dec 29, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in WP Remote Site Search 1.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script through crafted shortcode attributes. The shortcode handler accepts the max_results attribute without sufficient sanitization and emits it without output escaping, storing payloads for later viewers. A contributor-level WordPress account and a victim who renders the affected shortcode are required; script execution can alter page content or act with the victim's session privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
