Remote code execution via oversized ssidIndex parameter
Published Dec 26, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda W9 firmware 1.0.0.7(4456)_CN allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HTTP request. The formWifiMacFilterSet handler processes an oversized ssidIndex value without a stack-safe length check, allowing a return-oriented payload to redirect execution and start telnetd. NVD rates the attack as unauthenticated, although the public proof of concept supplies an administrative cookie; successful exploitation opens a network shell.
