Unauthenticated command execution via uplink stack overflow
Published Dec 26, 2023 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stack overflow in Tenda W9 firmware 1.0.0.7(4456)_CN allows remote attackers to execute commands through a crafted uplink request. The formSetUplinkInfo handler processes an oversized pingHostIp2 value at /goform/setUplinkInfo without enforcing stack-buffer bounds. Network access to the management endpoint is required; official metrics require no privileges, although the published proof of concept sends an admin-valued cookie.
