Code execution via oversized ping2 value
Published Dec 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda W9 firmware 1.0.0.7(4456)_CN allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted HTTP request. The formSetAutoPing handler at /goform/setAutoPing processes an oversized ping2 form value without a safe length check, and the published return-oriented payload starts telnetd with a shell. NVD rates the flaw as requiring no privileges, although the published request supplies an administrator session cookie; successful exploitation runs commands on the access point.
