Service interruption via unbounded table conversion recursion
Published Dec 27, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Stack overflow in hyavijava 6.0.07.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt application processing via crafted input passed to convert2Xml. ResultConverter.convert2Xml passes malformed table markup into convertTable and convertTdValue, whose mutual recursion repeats without a terminating condition until the Java stack is exhausted. Exposure requires a consuming application to route attacker-controlled text into the library method; the demonstrated outcome is a StackOverflowError rather than code execution or data access.
