Authenticated command execution via SMB credential concatenation
Published Jan 13, 2024 · Updated Jun 6, 2025
Command injection in QStar Archive Solutions Release 3-0 Build 7 Patch 0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The smb_join and smb_leave functions in lib/qstar_admin.php concatenate SMB credentials into a shell command passed to cmd_exec. Access to the authenticated SMB configuration workflow is required; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied commands on the QStar server.
