Credential disclosure via world-readable preferences file
Published Jan 9, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Information disclosure in Appwrite CLI before 3.0.0 allows local users to read stored Appwrite credentials from prefs.json. The login command writes those credentials to ~/.appwrite/prefs.json with UNIX mode 0644, granting read access to other local accounts. Exposure requires a prior CLI login and local filesystem access, and it reveals the saved credentials without altering data.
