CVE-2023-50915Public exploit

Unbootable hosts via redirected privileged log writes

Published Apr 30, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Arbitrary file overwrite in GOG GALAXY 2.0.67.2 through 2.0.71.2 allows local users to render Windows hosts unbootable. GalaxyClientService.exe runs as SYSTEM and writes logs into a user-writable directory, letting NTFS junction and RPC symbolic-link redirection corrupt protected system files. Exploitation requires a low-privileged local foothold; attackers cannot control the written content, but overwriting a boot-critical driver causes permanent startup failure.
