CVE-2023-50739

Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked IPP copy

Published Jan 17, 2025 · Updated Jan 22, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Lexmark printer IPP servers allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication. The IPP service on TCP port 631 copies user-supplied Authorization header data into a fixed-length heap buffer without validating its length. IPP listens on port 631 by default, so an attacker on an adjacent network can execute code as root on an affected device.
