CVE-2023-50734

Root code execution via make42charstring overflow

Published Feb 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 23, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Lexmark printer PostScript interpreters allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted jobs. The make42charstring method copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Authentication is not required, but network-adjacent access is needed; successful exploitation runs code as root.
