CVE-2023-50721Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unescaped UI extensions

Published Dec 15, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Code injection in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server-side code through the SearchAdmin interface. The XWiki.SearchAdmin page inserts UI-extension IDs and labels into rendered XWiki syntax without escaping, so attacker-supplied Groovy macros execute server-side. Any account that can edit a wiki page, including its default-editable profile, can plant the extension; opening SearchAdmin triggers it with access to the whole instance.
