CVE-2023-50713Network attack vector

API token scope escalation via unchecked delegation

Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Access-control bypass in Speckle Server before 2.17.6 allows remote authenticated users to mint API tokens with broader scopes. The apiTokenCreate resolver accepted a requesting PAT with tokens:write and failed to reject requested scopes beyond that token's own scope set. Exploitation requires a user-authorized application or PAT with tokens:write; resulting tokens remain bounded by that user's privileges.
