Process memory leak via malformed SWF parsing
Published Dec 20, 2023 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
Memory leaks in libming 0.4.8 allow attackers to consume process memory by supplying a crafted SWF file to the swftophp utility. The parser accepts an invalid SWF header, then parseSWF_DEFINETEXT and parseSWF_TEXTRECORD retain allocations instead of releasing them after the malformed structure ends. The published reproducer requires swftophp to process the file and demonstrates 1,319 leaked bytes; the linked evidence does not demonstrate code execution or information disclosure.
