Local secret disclosure via measurable L1D evictions

Information disclosure in XiangShan 2.1 allows local users to recover secret data from the L1D cache through a cache side channel. The Nanhu L1D cache’s PLRU eviction behavior is observable through the mcycle CSR, allowing a probe workload to infer a cached secret. A low-privileged local context able to run the proof-of-concept workload is required; the demonstrated consequence is cache-resident secret disclosure.
