CVE-2023-50445Public exploit

Local code execution via API shell metacharacters

Published Dec 28, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Shell injection in twelve GL.iNet router models allows local users to execute arbitrary commands through authenticated JSON-RPC APIs. The logread module's get_system_log and get_crash_log methods and the upgrade module's upgrade_online method pass externally supplied shell metacharacters into command execution without neutralization. Affected builds are 4.3.7, 4.4.6, or 4.5.0 by model; a valid API session token is required, and successful exploitation grants complete router control.
