Encryption bypass via unprotected zone metadata
Published Dec 13, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Metadata protection failure in PRIMX ZONECENTRAL allows local users with high privileges to exclude selected files from encryption. Encrypted-zone metadata is not fully protected, so a privileged local user can alter it to exclude new files from encryption temporarily. The attacker needs high local privileges, and the unauthorized change is detectable through periodic scans described in the Administrator Guide.
