Daemon crash via optionless DHCP packet
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in simple-dhcp-server through ec976d2 allows remote attackers to crash the DHCP daemon with an optionless packet. The free_packet function in dhcp_packet.c dereferences a NULL options pointer when a received DHCP packet contains no option fields. No authentication or user interaction is required; delivery of the malformed network packet terminates the DHCP service.
