CVE-2023-5036Public exploit

Browser script execution via unsanitized remote images

Published Sep 18, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Memos before 0.15.1 allows remote attackers to execute script through crafted image content after user interaction. The getimage endpoint's GetImage function accepted an image response from an attacker-controlled URL and returned its body without sanitization. A victim must cause the crafted remote image to be fetched and rendered; script then runs in the application's browser origin with access to the victim's session.
