Arbitrary file read via backup filename traversal
Published Dec 15, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Bazarr before 1.3.1 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary host files through the backup download endpoint. The backup_download method joins the untrusted filename to the configured backup folder and passes it to send_file without verifying containment. No authentication or user interaction is required, and access is limited to files readable by the Bazarr process.
