Code execution via unvalidated Java executable path
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in getJavaExecutable in Inductive Automation Ignition 8.1.31 allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious server. The method uses a server-supplied Java executable path in file operations without confining it to the expected directory. The target must connect to an attacker-controlled server; successful exploitation runs code with the current user's privileges.
