CVE-2023-50225

Root code execution via dm_fillObjByStr stack overflow

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in TP-Link TL-WR902AC firmware before TL-WR902AC(US)_V3_220804 allows remote authenticated users to run root code. The dm_fillObjByStr routine in libcmm.so copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Access from an adjacent network and administrative authentication are required; successful exploitation executes code as root and can fully control the router.
