Root code execution via awsfile tar input
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link G416 firmware 1.08b02 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code as root. The awsfile tar handler in the TCP port 80 HTTP service passes an inadequately validated user-supplied string to a system call. Exploitation requires unauthenticated LAN-side access to the router, and successful commands run with full device privileges.
