CVE-2023-50211

Root code execution via API-AUTH timestamp overflow

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link G416 firmware 1.08b02 and earlier allows network-adjacent attackers to execute code as root. The HTTP service on TCP port 80 copies an attacker-controlled API-AUTH timestamp into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length. LAN access is required, but authentication and user interaction are not; successful exploitation grants root control of the router.
