Unauthenticated root code execution via awsfile chmod
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link G416 firmware 1.08b02 and earlier allows network-adjacent attackers to execute code as root. The HTTP service on TCP port 80 passes an unvalidated user-supplied string from the awsfile chmod operation to a system call. LAN access is sufficient and authentication is not required, granting arbitrary root-level code execution on the router.
