CVE-2023-50164Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via mixed-case upload parameters

Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated Mar 14, 2025

Path traversal in Apache Struts 2.0.0 through 2.5.32 and 6.0.0 through 6.3.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via file uploads. HttpParameters handles names case-sensitively, letting mixed-case multipart filename parameters evade canonical matching and retain traversal segments. An unauthenticated request can place a malicious file in an executable web path when the application exposes the legacy file-upload mechanism.
