CVE-2023-50123Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Alarm disarming via unlimited SMS authentication attempts

Published Jan 11, 2024 · Updated Jun 20, 2025

Improper authentication throttling in Hozard Alarm System 1.0 allows remote attackers to disarm the alarm by brute-forcing SMS authentication. The SMS command handler accepts unlimited authentication attempts instead of enforcing a retry limit or lockout. Attackers who can send SMS messages to the alarm system's cellular number can repeatedly guess the authentication value until a disarm command succeeds.
