Authenticated script placement via unrestricted file upload
Published Dec 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in Textpattern CMS 4.8.8 allows remote authenticated users to place executable scripts in a web-accessible directory. The administrative file-upload path accepts malicious script files and stores them in the web-accessible files directory without blocking dangerous types. Backend credentials are required; requesting an uploaded script runs it with web-server permissions when the server handles that file type as executable.
