CVE-2023-50008

Memory exhaustion via unreleased colorcorrect histograms

Published Apr 19, 2024 · Updated Jun 10, 2025

Memory leak in the colorcorrect filter in FFmpeg n6.1-3-g466799d4f5 allows local users to exhaust process memory during filtering. The filter teardown frees analyzeret but fails to release the allocated U and V histogram buffers, retaining memory after the filter context is destroyed. Repeated local use of colorcorrect is required to accumulate the leak, and the bounded consequence is memory exhaustion and service interruption.
