Router crash via oversized mesh-node MAC value
Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda W30E firmware 16.01.0.12(4843) allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted HTTP request. The formRebootMeshNode handler accepts a 1,280-byte rebootMesh.mac value at /goform/module without enforcing the destination stack buffer's bounds, corrupting the httpd process stack. The published proof of concept supplies a session cookie, but NVD assesses that no privileges or user interaction are required; the demonstrated consequence is a router denial of service.
