Unauthenticated root command execution via crafted filename
Published Feb 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Command injection in Indu-Sol PROFINET-INspektor NT 2.4.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute system commands as root. The firmware's gedtupdater service incorporates the filename parameter from POST requests to /api/updater/ctrl/start_update into an operating-system command without neutralizing command syntax. No authentication or user interaction is required, so any network-reachable attacker can fully control the appliance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
