CVE-2023-49933Network attack vector

RPC traffic modification via message extension

Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Message-integrity failure in SchedMD Slurm 22.05.x, 23.02.x, and 23.11.x allows remote attackers to alter RPC traffic. Slurm's RPC protocol accepts maliciously extended messages while validating hashes in a way that does not reject the appended content. Network access to a Slurm daemon is sufficient, and successful exploitation lets unauthenticated attackers modify RPC messages without invalidating the checked hash.
