Document disclosure via INFO-level raw-content logging
Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated May 24, 2025
Sensitive-data logging in Elastic Enterprise Search before 7.17.16 and 8.11.2 allows remote authenticated users to expose indexed document contents. The App Search Documents API writes each indexed document's raw contents to App Search logs at the default INFO level instead of limiting them to DEBUG. Exposure requires direct Documents API use with sensitive content, and log readers can recover that content without altering documents or service availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
