CVE-2023-49921

Document disclosure via Watcher search-result logging

Published Jul 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Sensitive-data logging in affected Elastic Elasticsearch releases allows attackers with log access to read stored document contents. The Watcher search input writes complete search results, including raw document data, to Elasticsearch logs when its logger or a hierarchical parent is set to DEBUG or finer. Exposure requires a search-input watch, verbose logging, and access to the resulting logs; reported impact is limited to confidentiality.
