Local privilege escalation via unquoted executable path
Published Sep 15, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Unquoted search path handling in QuesCom NextBX QWAlerter 4.50 allows local users to execute code with QWAlerter.exe privileges. The QWAlerter.exe launch path is not quoted, so Windows path resolution can select an attacker-planted executable from a space-delimited parent path. Successful exploitation requires low-privileged local access and write access to a searched path; public records do not disclose the exact installation path or directory permissions.
