CVE-2023-4986

Local password-hash disclosure via weak Project.xml storage

Published Sep 15, 2023 · Updated Jun 18, 2025

Weak password hashing in Project.xml in SUPCON InPlant SCADA 20230901 allows local users to obtain hashes for offline cracking. Project.xml stores password-derived values with insufficient computational effort, making password guesses cheaper than an adequate password-hashing scheme. Low-privilege local access and high attack complexity are required, and the reported impact is limited to credential confidentiality.
