CVE-2023-49733Network attack vector

Server file disclosure via XML external entity resolution

Published Nov 30, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

XXE injection in Apache Cocoon 2.2.0 through 2.2.x allows remote attackers to read server files through crafted XML POST data. StreamGenerator parses XML from an HTTP POST body or configured form parameter without preventing resolution of attacker-supplied external system entities. An unauthenticated request must reach an application pipeline configured with StreamGenerator; exploitation can expose server-side resources or interrupt the service.
