Application crash via corrupt project-file loading
Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Use-after-free in CODESYS Development System V2.3 before 2.3.9.73 allows local users to trigger a crash via a corrupt project file. The project-file loader continues opening a file identified as corrupt after warning confirmation, leaving malicious file data able to trigger a use-after-free. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted file and confirm the warning; the documented consequence is a crash, not code execution or data access.
