Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jan 11, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in the video_popup shortcode in Video Popup 1.1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts into posts. The shortcode renders user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, causing saved attribute content to enter the page response as executable script. Contributor-level access is required to create the malicious content, and the script runs in the browser of any user who visits the injected page.
